Penguin Pond – Bergen Aquarium

After treatment with Innerseal, the penguins at the Bergen Aquarium were able to stroll to their new penguin pond. The penguins had been temporarily housed in the carp pond due to reconstruction. The area of land around the large penguin pool is paved with concrete and features shallow steps, and is about 100 square meters in size.

Ravnanger Middle School – Askøy

Ravnanger Middle School on Askøy, just outside Bergen, has now been treated with both Innerseal and Topseal. The building is a pure brick structure from the ’80s that is now both waterproof and easier to keep clean!

Sergel Fountain – Stockholm

Under a specially built and heated tent, a new joint-free fountain base was cast over 1400 m² with colored green concrete. After very strict requirements and subsequent testing, the concrete was protected with Innerseal. During the winter, the fountain is without water and is consequently more exposed to damage.

Casablanca – New Water Pipeline

Under the million city, a concrete pipe with a 2.5-meter diameter is being laid to collect wastewater and stormwater from the residents. The pipe is 42 km long, and the project is a collaboration between French and Moroccan partners. On the inside, the pipe is treated with 6 coats of Innerseal using a specially built wagon, covering a total of 80,000 m².

Movar Waste Facility – Moss

MOVAR IKS (municipalities of Moss, Rygge, Råde, Vestby, and Våler) built a new waste station, and all concrete floors were treated with Innerseal and Condeck in September 2013. A one-year inspection shows minimal wear on the floors despite heavy traffic from heavy machinery and extensive waste handling.

Wastewater in Bergen

Large facilities are required to treat wastewater from 300,000 people. The first unit to be completed is the Ytre Sandviken treatment plant. This ensures the best possible water quality in the fjords surrounding the city. More than 9,000 m² of concrete in contact with wastewater has been treated with Betongtett.

IKEA – Trondheim

To ease cleaning and protect against moisture penetration, the entire ring wall/base was first deep-impregnated with two coats of Betongtett. Then, one coat of Topseal was applied to the wall to preserve its appearance.

Frölundabadet – Sweden

Both the pool and the adjacent floor had been leaking chlorinated water for so long that the reinforcement had started to rust. The damage was so severe that there were fears of a future collapse. Cracks and defects were repaired, and then all surfaces were thoroughly treated with Betongtett. Two days later, the dripping in the basement disappeared, and all other leaks had also ceased.

Nordic's Largest Skate Park – Stapelbäddsparken, Malmö, Sweden

In spring 2014, Komsol AB renovated all surfaces at the Nordics’ largest skate park, Stapelbäddsparken in Malmö. The work was carried out using custom-built concrete grinders equipped with flexible diamond grinding discs. These flexible grinding discs allow access to all curved surfaces without damaging or cutting into the surface like a standard disc would. After thorough cleaning, all surfaces were impregnated with Condeck, which provides an extra hard, durable, and protective layer against any penetrating liquid. Vertical surfaces and sharply concave areas were manually ground with special machines and pads.

Hansaparken in Bergen is Cleaned and Impregnated

Hansaparken has nearly become a new “neighborhood” on the former site of Hansa Brewery. The project features several modern residential blocks characterized by glass and concrete. Upon completion, all concrete facades were cleaned with Betongrens and then coated with Topseal.

Innerseal 1843 m above sea level

From Loen in Nordfjord, you can take a trip to the historic Skålatårnet at the top of Jotunheimen. The building was constructed in 1891 and features walls that are 1.25 meters thick, made of concrete and rough stone. To prevent moisture migration through the walls and deterioration of the structure, the entire building was impregnated with Innerseal during the summer.

The Harbor Office in Bergen Has Become a Hotel

The old Harbor Office is built of granite and brick. During the remodeling/rehabilitation, extensive moisture penetration was discovered throughout the entire facade. The solution was to impregnate the structure with Innerseal, and the moisture problems have now disappeared.

Dronning Mauds gate 1, Oslo

The light surface of the polished concrete had become stained and dirty. The solution was to wash the facade with Betongrens, followed by impregnation with Topseal. The facade now appears as it should be—clean, neat, and dirt-repellent.

Vaksdal Church

The church was built in 1933 from mortared granite blocks. Moisture penetration in the joints had occurred over time, causing damage to the indoor environment, plaster, and frescoes in the church interior. The exterior joints were repaired, and the facade was then impregnated with Betongtett. The moisture problems have now disappeared.

Parking Garage – Stuttgart, Germany

6,000 m² of parking decks spread over 3 underground levels. Over time, the concrete had suffered significant damage from road salt and moisture penetration from the surrounding terrain. The reinforcement damage and compromised concrete have now been repaired, and all the concrete has been impregnated with Betongtett to prevent future damage.

Ski Resort / High Mountain Hotel

Pellestova from 1946 (986 m above sea level) in Øyer municipality has recently been converted into a state-of-the-art hotel with 40 rooms and 50 large apartments offering up to 10 beds. Pellestova has become a fantastic facility and one of the most exciting concepts in the mountain region. In the basement, there is 1600 m² of parking, where both the floors and walls are protected with Betongtett.

Evacuation Tunnel – Södertunneln, Stockholm

Groundwater was penetrating through concrete of varying quality. At times, water stood up to a meter high in the tunnel, and algae even began to grow on the light fixtures (!). The tunnel was drained and cleaned, holes and concrete damage were repaired, and the floors, walls, and ceiling were then deep-impregnated with Betongtett. Today, the tunnel is dry.

Basement Wall – Flatåsskolan, Gothenburg

Surface water flowed along the exterior concrete wall due to poor drainage in the sloping terrain, and there were also concerns about whether the drainage was working. The water penetrated, causing mold and fungus damage on the interior and resulting in a poor indoor environment. All furnishings had to be demolished and discarded, and the basement was cleaned. In this case, 5 coats of Betongtett were required to ensure it dried out.

Transformer Station – La Valle d’Uixó, Valencia, Spain

The building is constructed with an open design featuring exposed concrete. After 5 years, the surfaces had started to weather and rust water could be seen everywhere. To halt the deterioration, the entire building was deep-impregnated with two coats of Betongtett, followed by one coat of Topseal. No further damage has been observed since the treatment.

Biogas in Germany

In Germany, there is significant focus on alternative energy, and biogas production has received extra priority. Consequently, concrete silos are being built on a large scale, and this concrete needs protection against the biomass (organic waste) that is loaded into them. Over half a million square meters have been impregnated. A number of strict requirements are set for the concrete protection, with impermeability, durability, and strength being paramount. These requirements have resulted in a certification and testing procedure described in DIN 11622-2. Controll Betongtett has also been tested by TÜV Rheinland LGA Bautechnik GMBH and has passed all the requirements with a good margin.

FRAMO AS – ASKØY

World’s largest marine pump manufacturer, Framo AS, built brand new facilities with several thousand square meters of concrete for seawater basins, pipe galleries, and underground channels. To prevent concrete degradation, we first removed form oil using deep cleaning and hot water, then applied two generous coats of Betongtett.

Betongtett in Iceland

Lambhagi Gartneri has grown steadily since 1979 and is the largest producer of fresh salad and herbs in Iceland. They have recently expanded once again, now with 6000 m², and even more is in the planning stage.

To protect and preserve the concrete floors, they have chosen to use Controll Betongtett as a deep impregnation treatment and Controll Condeck as an additional protective and hardening layer on top. Environmental requirements and documented product performance were highly prioritized in the choice of floor treatment.
