DRINKING WATER - HEALTH ANALYSIS
Aqualogy, a global network of water safety experts operating in over 20 countries, conducted a health and safety assessment of Controll® Innerseal. The results confirmed that the product contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and no substances harmful to human health.
This means Innerseal is safe to use on surfaces that may come into contact with drinking water — including water tanks, reservoirs, and treatment infrastructure.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT OF CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS
Controll® Innerseal and Controll® Topseal have both received the highest environmental rating from Byggvarubedömningen — a Swedish non-profit supported by the country’s largest property developers and construction firms.
This certification confirms that the products meet strict environmental and health standards for use in sustainable buildings and future-proof construction projects.
PUBLIC HEALTH - DRINKING WATER CONTACT
The Norwegian Institute of Public Health conducted a toxicological assessment of Controll® Innerseal to evaluate its safety in contact with drinking water.
The findings confirmed that the product is completely safe for use on surfaces that come into contact with potable water, making it suitable for use in tanks, reservoirs, and other water-sensitive applications.
SUNDAHUS - ENVIRONMENTAL CLASS
SundaHus, a leading Swedish organisation for environmental and health certification in the construction industry, has evaluated Controll® Innerseal, Innerseal Plus, and Topseal.
All three products received a Class B rating — the second-highest grade in the SundaHus system — recognising them as environmentally sound choices for sustainable building projects.
WATER ABSORPTION TEST
The Technical University of Munich tested the water absorption resistance of bricks treated with Controll® Innerseal and Topseal.
The results showed that the treated brick absorbed up to 20 times less water than the untreated sample. This demonstrates the powerful moisture-blocking capabilities of Innerseal when applied in combination with Topseal — offering exceptional protection against water ingress.
CPR - AUDIT
Betongtett AS, the manufacturer of Controll® products, is fully certified under the Construction Products Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011. This certification ensures that all production processes meet the European Union’s harmonised standards for construction materials.
Our facilities are audited annually under System 2+, confirming continuous compliance with quality, safety, and performance requirements for permanent concrete protection.
THE GERMAN ECO-INSTITUT GmbH
The independent ECO-Institut in Germany tested Controll® Innerseal and Topseal for health and environmental safety. The analysis focused on detecting harmful substances such as VOCs, formaldehyde, and other known carcinogens, using some of the strictest standards in the world.
The results confirmed that both products are free from harmful or hazardous substances, making them safe for use in sensitive environments.
VATTENFALL - NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
Controll® Innerseal has been tested and approved by Swedish energy company Vattenfall, earning a GREEN-2 classification. This designation confirms that the product performs reliably under strict operational conditions while meeting high environmental standards.
As part of a long-term field study, Innerseal was used in the Forsmark 3 nuclear power plant, where it helped protect and extend the lifespan of the concrete structure in the reactor’s wet-well (cooling chamber) — a high-moisture, high-stress environment.
CBI CONCRETE INSTITUTE - SWEDEN
Controll® Innerseal has been independently verified by RISE – Research Institutes of Sweden, formerly the CBI Concrete Institute. The product meets all key requirements under NS-EN 1504-2, the European standard for surface protection of concrete.
It also complies with the EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR), confirming its durability, safety, and suitability for both residential and industrial use throughout Europe.
SINTEF – WATER ABSORPTION TEST
Controll® Innerseal has been tested by SINTEF, one of Norway’s leading independent research institutes, to evaluate its ability to reduce water absorption in concrete.
The results confirmed Innerseal’s effectiveness in limiting moisture penetration and improving long-term durability. While full test reports are not published online for competitive reasons, they are available for review at our offices upon request.
IMASALAB - POST TREATMENT TEST
IMASALAB conducted a comparative test to measure the change in pH levels of concrete before and after treatment with Controll® Innerseal.
The test showed a significant increase in pH from 8.8 to 10.1 after application. Raising the pH is critical in preventing rebar corrosion, helping to stabilise the internal environment of the concrete and offering the potential for rehabilitation over demolition in degraded structures.
